Juice Fasting – Detox to Jump-Start Weight Loss

I’m doing a 10-day juice fast in order to “reprogram” my body, if you will, to craving and liking raw foods again. I am especially interested in using this juice fast to tackle some of my deeper emotional attachments to food and give my health a boost – which has been suffering due to all the junk food I’ve been eating. It was the crap foods that made me gain 15 lbs, and I hope to lose those 15 plus more by rejecting crappy foods from now on.     I juiced twice a day for 8 months and dropped 60 pounds when I was 19. Looking back I don’t know how I did it, I need to get back into that mind set again lol.

    Wow. Shanti, I love you. :) Wonderful speaker, as always, and now this video makes me want to buy a juicer. I really should try a juice fast because of my diabetes (type 2). However, I’m wondering if shocking my body with a juice fast is a good thing or if I should talk to my doc first..?

    @TIPFAN4Lyfe thats a good idea..throw in some trail mix and cashews..lots of protein in them..just a hand full will do..

    @AnthonyNews the thing about it is…im not.or at least i dont feel like i am.i am struggling to eat even the 600.i eat all day!!i was thinking about adding like a nutrigran or fiber one bar or some trail mix just to up my intake but im not sure about all the sodium and all the other stuff in it.actually my doctor is the one who suggested the diet so idk.

    You need o eat the pulp. I dont like juicing cause you miss out on the fiber and other great stuff. Get a vegemix. It pulverizes everything. You can eat the rinds of oranges if you desire. :-p

    @antishay I love the idea of multiple roads to the same place. :) And it’s true, different bodies respond in different ways. Feeling crummy for a week or so on LC is normal, but some people can only ever tolerate moderate LC at most. (I feel compelled to clarify in case anyone’s thinking about LC that far from just being a meat-and-cheese deal, I eat more veggies low-carbing than I did before, as they’re my main source of carbs–I think this is a major misconception for lots of folks.)     @sleestack808 I was raised vegan for 17 years… started eating meat when I was 17, stopped again when I was 24 and started again at 25. Now, at 26 years old, I am getting back into it. I am transitioning into a raw vegan lifestyle :)

    @thehyde I think it’s totally the aspect of using food for fuel :D However, on low-carb all-meat-&-cheese I felt HORRIBLE and on all veg and healthy things I feel great, so it depends on the person, too.

    @redplum007 Any detox will tire you out a lot as your body has to spend a lot of energy cleansing itself. That said, there is nothing you CAN’T do on a juice fast — but everyone will be different. If you think it would interefere with your studying, maybe wait until you have a week off :)

    @TIPFAN4Lyfe dont starve yourself, eating less than 1200 calories could result in muscle lost..so please eat atleast 1200 caloreis per day..check with your doctor befor you start..

    What if you are under 18 but you are also done growing? Is it okay to use free weights. I’m 17, but I haven’t grown an inch since I was 12 or 13, and have only gained excess weight, which I am trying to lose.

    so is strength training more beneficial than cardio when it comes to weight loss?

    i always thought that a person would want to lose weight first then tone up because of the muscle weight you could gain. wouldn’t that interfere with weight loss? I’m really shooting toward 2.5lbs (my plan: lots of cardio and 1200 cal daily) weekly and i don’t want to jeopardize it by lifting weights too soon. to be honest i could live without toning so long as i drop the weight.

    which machine makes you lose weight faster: treadmill or elliptical? or are they the same (just depends on ur workout)? i usually run 2 mi on the treadmill, but the elliptical burns more calories in 2 mi also…so which is better?

    yes because the noodles are a form of pasta. which are carbs. i recently found out by my nutritionist. i hope i helped.
